What is a DAM?

A DAM is a virtual storage system that combines multiple different software characteristics and becomes an organizational system containing the media assets for an organization or an individual. DAM systems use Metadata to describe the assets and make a more desirable way of asset management (Canto, 2020).


A DAM system can be connected to different systems to create an ease of distribution, workflows can also be implemented within different software to make it easier for users to download, upload and transfer files (Keathley, 2014).
